为什么很多人听力无法提高?

原因可能有:

?没有选对材料,听过难或简单的听力材料;

Hello, this is Julie Candler with the BBC News.

The Upper House of the Brazilian Congress has opened an inquiry into the government's handling of the coronavirus pandemic, which has killed almost 400,000 people. Supporters of President Bolsonaro tried to block the Senate's choice of rapporteur to direct proceedings. Analysts say the inquiry could be politically explosive for President Bolsonaro, who's seeking reelection.

Mark Lowen in Sao Paulo says the President is unapologetic. He spoke to media couple days ago and said that he was not worried by the commission inquiry. He has been very bullish and he has threatened even to use the armed forces to try to stop individual states in Brazil from imposing lockdown measures. This is a man, remember, who once dismissed Covid as just a little flu, told Brazilians to stop whining. He said he would not receive the vaccine which could, in his words, make you grow a beard or turn you even into a crocodile. So, this is a man who has been consistently anti-science, anti-lockdown and vaccine skeptic.

There is mounting evidence India has been under reporting the number of deaths from Covid-19 as it grapples with a second wave of coronavirus. One report from Delhi suggests the figures recorded by crematorium maybe twice as high as government numbers. In official statistics, only fatalities registered by hospitals are counted. Kunal Sarkar is a senior vice chairman at the medical hospital in Kolkata. He says they're seeing a difference in the disease now compared with the first wave. What used to happen is that you got the blast of the disease from about the second week. But this time it's coming very early. It's coming very early by day three or day four. There are youngsters who are coming with their systems completely inactive. Clinical pattern has changed between the first and the second wave.

The French government is investigating about 1,000 members of the armed forces who signed an open letter warning of civil war unless action is taken against Islamists, criminal immigrants and anti-racism activists. The letter from 22 retired generals was published last week.

The security forces in Lebanon have arrested a suspected drug smuggler at Beirut airport days after Saudi Arabia banned Lebanon's fruit and vegetables because of concern the shipments were being used to smuggle drugs. Our Arab affairs editor Sebastian Usher reports.

The arrest of a suspected drug smuggler comes a day after President Aoun held an urgent meeting in response to the Saudi ban on Lebanese imports. A presidential statement called on Lebanon's intelligence agencies to work closely with the Saudis on preventing a repeat of an incident, in which a huge amount of the illegal stimulant captagon was found being smuggled into the kingdom by being stuffed into pomegranates. Saudi Arabia and the Gulf provide a vital market for Lebanese agricultural produce.
